I painted this horse from photos I had taken while attending a horse show. This horse was performing during a dressage competition. Some beautiful horses and riders were there. It was a bright and beautiful day.

It has been a long while since I have posted on Western Art International blog. This painting is in oil, 36x18 canvas panel. I wanted a strong design and thought doing only the horses heads with each in a slightly different pose would be what I was looking for. Two are drinking but the other one notices something out of our vision, with it's ears perked knowing something is on the other side of the water, hmmm???http:www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

I wanted to portray this horse in such a way, almost mystical. I left the background diffused, misty. The horse with the flowing mane and tail, radiant, wild and free.© Ann Hoffpauir
