Cowboy Conference

© AnnHoffpauir

I attended a rodeo not too long ago and saw these young cowboys sitting on this fence.  It looked to me like they were discussing how they did.  Maybe the guy in the middle has doubts or maybe he is figuring his score.

Crossing the Stream

© AnnHoffpauir

This is a painting done from a trip to Colorado.  It is beautiful there in the mountains and a different scene comes into view all around you.  Sometimes for me its hard to choose what to paint.  A cowboy fits this painting for me.  Is he following a trail that led into and across the water?  Who or what is he looking for?

Heading'em Home

© AnnHoffpauir

This western painting was done when the fog is just above the ground and streaks of it are going across the trees, usually early morning.  I wanted to create a sence of stillness and quiet in the scene. The only sounds you hear are the plodding on the horse and the cows.  The birds aren't even chirping yet.  The cows got out of their pasture and the cowboy set out early to look for them and bring them back.  The fog is slowly lifting.  There seems to be a chill in the air.

Blue Skies

© AnnHoffpauir

This old barn has been painted by me several times. It is about a 20 minute drive from my home. An older, really slim cowboy owns the place. He owns quite a few cattle and I have had the privilege to to paint them. Only they must have been in the barn, cause I didn't see'em that day. The day was beautiful and bright, great for a western painting.

Preparation

© AnnHoffpauir
This painting was done from the Montana area.  We, my husband and I, were on vacation a few years back and came upon some folks going on a trail ride.  Western art is one of my favorite things to paint and I could not miss the opportunity to get some photos of all the activity.  This young lady is the guide for the group.  I think I captured how the light reflects up into her face even though she is looking down.  For more western art visit my website at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Lazy Afternoon-Longhorns

© AnnHoffpauir
These three longhorns were in a pasture just taking in the warm sunshine on a early fall day outside of Austin, Texas. It was a lazy afternoon that day. These majestic animals always fit the western landscape so very well. Cattle, cowboys and horses
are the main thing I think of about Texas. This oil painting is size 14x18. For more of my western art visit my website http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com
