Original Western Landscape,Equine , Cowboy Painting "Days End" by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

This has been my year of painting the things that fill my soul with loveliness and beauty. The photo reference I used for this painting is one I took up in Kalispell a few years ago. It WAS the end of a long June day, and everyone was tired and ready to go home and call it a day. As the sun was setting and the hands were chatting quietly, these two horses reached out to one another with a nuzzle, and nickered softly. It was all perfectly beautiful.

This painting won third place in 2-D art at the Women Artists of the West show “WAOWed in San Diego." 44th Annual Women Artists of the West National Juried Exhibition at the Women’s Museum of California, San Diego, CA. May 2 – May 31, 2014.

Art by Oklahoma Abstract Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "Falcon de Vez"

© "Falcon de Vez"
Some time ago before I really had started to develop my signature line style, I painted some portraits in a more realistic style. This beautiful golden palomino paso fino stallion Falcon de Vez - owned by Dr. Bill in Florida- photo taken by Mary Berg, was the winning photo in one of my P2P contests on FB (photo to painting). This acrylic was painted on a Frederick's watercolor canvas, they have such a smooth, smooth fine surface to work on. The paint just glided on. Sold to the stallion owner. My oh my how I love those golden horses.

Don't forget that the Summer of 2014 60 Series kicks off tomorrow morning! Don't miss these daily paintings, stop in and visit to see what's new each day.

Art by Oklahoma Abstract Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "Wistful"

© "Wistful"
Some time ago before I really had started to develop my signature line style, I painted some portraits in a more realistic style. This beautiful gray paso fino mare- Nieve- owned by my friend Paula N. and who's picture this was painted from, was the winning photo in one of my P2P contests on FB (photo to painting). This acrylic was painted on a Frederick's watercolor canvas, they have such a smooth, smooth fine surface to work on. The paint just glided on. The soft colors and far off look in her eyes focused on something of mild interest in the distance gave me a sense of quiet reflection, and I named her "Wistful". Sold.

© "#53" 2013 60's Series
I'm getting excited, the start of the 2014 60 Series is counting down, just 3 more days! This painting from last years 60 series was one of my surprise favorites, I just loved his exuberance and the rich warm golden colors for the palette. This expresses a happiness that I strive to feel and have been eluded from for so long, waking with the feeling that life is great and worth running around all bursting with positive energy! The older I get the harder things are, yet- I experience this more often now. As I like to say- WOOHOO! #53 is sold.

Art by Oklahoma Abstract Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "Zero to 60"

© "Zero to 60"
Sometimes what I see I perceive differently the first time I view it then later I take a second look interpreting what I see in a new light and with renewed interest, unlike falling in love instantly, love grows slower and with greater appreciation. This 30"x 24" acrylic painting "Zero to 60" hit me that way. I finished it up, looked at it, and was so discouraged. I felt it was a mess. It sat for 3 days out of sight, then I took it out to decide- keep? Or scrap. Wait a minute I mused, this isn't all that bad. This painting has become the favorite of quite a few folks, my husband included- he requested it not be sold since he wanted to enjoy it for awhile. I entered it in a show and won one of my first blue ribbons, how elated I was! I'd had it professionally framed in a bright vibrant red outer frame with a zingy equally bright inner stack yellow frame and how great that set off the painting! I am pretty sure I'm going to enter it in a juried museum show coming up this summer. It's only been seen publicly a couple of times, it's about time it had a larger audience. I convinced my husband it was time. It's so bright and just gorgeous. And to think I was going to shrug it off......

Clothing Art by Oklahoma Abstract Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

One thing I really enjoy is painting on clothing so I, or someone who desires to, can have a unique way to share the horse as art in any setting- out horseback riding, out on a date, while shopping, traveling or visiting friends and family etc. It started as a suggestion to do this on jean shirts, and I've expanded to short and long sleeved T's, dressy shirts, and jackets. A friend inspired me to add extra sparkle and interest with the addition of genuine Swarovski crystals. Each crystal is hand placed and hand glued one by one. In the light and the sun- WOW, they just sparkle so brightly!
Each article is hand inspected then selected, washed first for optimal paint adhesion, then after the paint has cured, the jewels are added if any. With proper care they can last and last. Some are enhanced with metallic or gliettery paint, photos just don't do many of these justice! Pictured is me with a jacket I painted for myself with our paso fino stallion Adonis. I have available stock.

Western Fine Art Photography "Coaxing The Girls in From The Pasture" Equine, Cowboy, by Colorado Photographer Connie Dine

The second image in the Round-up series this year is an impressionists image of a rancher with a pail leading a small group of cattle from an outlying pasture to the adjacent one where the rest of the cattle are being moved towards the barns.

I chose to slow everything down and make this image in the style of the Impressionists because of the theme, the light, the big sky and pastures as well as the time of year which just seemed to lend itself to the theme.

This image is one of the images featured in the Club at the National Western Stock Show. Part of the proceeds of the sale goes to the National Western Scholarship Fund.

Please remember that the print size is different from the framed size. The framed piece measures 28x24 Great for home or office decor.

This unframed print also available in other sizes and with a framing option. Please see the Contact page for sizes, mediums, framing options and other info.

Art by Oklahoma Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "Dancing Palomino H'art"

© "Dancing Palomino H'art"
When I saw these little heart shapes I just knew they would be a fun project for me, and I was right. I enjoy taking them out ever so often and having fun creating equine art on a shape I feel is important. The heart is a symbol of so much, love, soul, empathy, courage, bravery, compassion etc. The breed I love, the Paso Fino, possesses "brio", this is the heart of the horse, it's pride, it's excellent work ethic, it's willingness to please, it's charisma and presence. No wonder I love to paint the paso's, they have so much to tap into creatively! The hearts are heavy stiff cardboard with canvas on both sides, measuring about 5 1/2" at any of the wides parts, and 1/8th inch thick. "Dancing Palomino H'art" was sold very quickly after seen. Oh how I love those golden horses!

Original Colorado Landscape Painting "October Afternoon At The Redlands" by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

This view of the Colorado National Monument is from old Hwy 340 from Grand Junction to Fruita, Colorado. Three years ago, this painting was juried into an art show in Fort Collins, Colorado. It was a well-respected show; one that requires participating artists to pay a “handler” to ensure that their paintings were delivered from the shipping facility to show, back again, and then shipped back to the artists. When my painting never came home to me, I inquired and found that it had been lost. No tracking number existed and no one was willing to take responsibility. I was mad, sad, and all that other stuff, but let it go and moved on. Two years later, on Christmas Eve day, the painting showed up at my front door, in it’s original shipping box! So, it’s home now, hanging in my studio, wishing for a new home…

"I'm Precious" is an acrylic painted for my smalls and Golden Horses Series on a 6"x6"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas. The name refers to the reference that gold is precious, and because I love the palomino and buckskin colors they are precious to me. Precious can be purchased for $60.00 + shipping.

© "Cheap Sunglasses"
I don't often paint using my signature line style with the lines remaining white, but on occasion I'll do so, and this one I thought came out pretty good. I just love spirals and I used them in this one more than once, and I liked how the lines encased the eye and to me, it looked like he has on glasses. "Cheap Sunglasses" was painted with acrylics on an 11"x14"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas. It sold from my Sweet Valentine Solo Show last year. I've had requests to do another with the white, maybe soon.......

Art by Oklahoma Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "A Fresh StHeart"

© "A Fresh StHeart"
I got such a wonderful response for the painting with the filly wearing flowers in her mane sporting a heart on her cheek (Heart of the Matter), there were mentions of doing a similar "repeat", and since I do very much enjoy painting horses and flowers together, I created this mare with her flowers and heart imprinted cheek. This is the same size, a 20"x16"x1.5" gallery wrap painted with acrylics, and I've dubbed her "A Fresh StHeart" (a fresh start). If you'd like to have this graceful mare decorate your wall, send me an email for more info at: mccoysartworks@gmail.com
She is priced at $450.00 + shipping. Until she is claimed, I'll just have her hang around in my studio for my enjoyment.

Equine, Horse Fine Art Photography "Waiting to Cross The River" by Colorado Photographer Connie Dines, National Western Stock Show Artist

The dust from the horses coming down from the hills and through the first corrals in the morning gives a diffuse quality to the light around them. This piece is one of a series on Working Horses and is currently in the Club at the National Western Stock Show. Part of the proceeds of the sale of this piece go to the National Western Scholarship Trust.

Art by Oklahoma Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "Piloto"

© "Piloto"
Introducing paso fino stallion "Piloto", a commission done as a dual birthday and Mothers Day gift from a loving daughter in law to her mother in law. I think this was a fabulous choice for a gift, something timeless, unique, personal and in a way a memorial to a much admired and loved stallion. It was the perfect gesture, and one that was well received and will never be forgotten. "Piloto" was painted with acrylics on a 12"x12"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas.

Equine, Horse Fine Art Photography "Cool Waters" by Colorado Photographer Connie Dines, National Western Stock Show Artist

Like crossing the street to go to work, these horses splash across the creek, headed to the corrals where they get fed, selected for riding and saddled up. Throughout this series the white horse seems to have been the lead horse and where she went the others followed.

This is the third and final image in the Working Horse series that is hanging in the Club at the National Western Stock Show this year. Part of the proceeds of the sale of each piece goes to the National Western Scholarship Fund.

Art by Oklahoma Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy "#55 2013 60 Series"

© "#55" 2013 60's Series

This entry into last years 2013 60's Series was painted towards the end of the challenge, it's #55, and it was the last one done of my idea, the remaining 5 were paid requests of personal horses. For me, this one is all about the foal. What an adorable, inquisitive look he has on his face. It's as if he can see you, the viewer and is looking at you just the same way you are looking at him. Too cute! Though I don't mind it being here, so I can look at mr. adorable, this one is still waiting to be claimed. These acrylic 6"x6"x1.5" gallery wraps canvases sold for $60 each + shipping and I donated $6 of each sale to a horse rescue. Would you consider adopting this family? For more info email: mccoysartworks@gmail.com

Don't forget- this summers 60's Series starts up in just 2 weeks! This year will feature 60 6"x8"x1.5" gallery wrap canvases. Counting down the days!
