Western Fine Art Photography "Coaxing The Girls in From The Pasture" Equine, Cowboy, by Colorado Photographer Connie Dines

The second image in the Round-up series this year is an impressionists image of a rancher with a pail leading a small group of cattle from an outlying pasture to the adjacent one where the rest of the cattle are being moved towards the barns.

I chose to slow everything down and make this image in the style of the Impressionists because of the theme, the light, the big sky and pastures as well as the time of year which just seemed to lend itself to the theme.

This image is one of the images featured in the Club at the National Western Stock Show. Part of the proceeds of the sale goes to the National Western Scholarship Fund.

Please remember that the print size is different from the framed size. The framed piece measures 28x24 Great for home or office decor.

This unframed print also available in other sizes and with a framing option. Please see the Contact page for sizes, mediums, framing options and other info.

"Morning at CM Ranch" Western Ranch Landscape Fine Art Photography by Colorado Photographer Connie Dines, Artful Exposures, One Frame at a Time

Morning at the CM Ranch, second oldest continuously operating dude ranch in the State of Wyoming, is one of my favorites for dusty light.  Like mist, dust gives a glow that cannot be replicated!  The hush and warm expectation of the morning hang over this scene like the dust does.

Please remember that the print size is not the same as the framed size.

This piece framed measures 26x20 Great for home or office decor. This unframed print also available in other sizes and with a framing option.

"Mount Garfield Reflection" Original Mount Garfield Colorado Landscape Painting by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

This painting depicts one of the most recognizable landmarks in Grand Junction, Colorado. When I first moved to Grand Junction from Illinois, I couldn’t find the appeal of the stark, stony cliffs that line the valley to the north. Soon, though, I realized that the light plays magic tricks with the neutral-colored stone and they become hauntingly beautiful as the sun rises and sets. Now I watch the Bookcliffs every evening with curiosity, to see where the shadows fall and what color the cliffs are.

Contemporary, Whimsical Wildlife, Bison Art Painting "How The Bison Got His Hump" by Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

Western Wildlife,Contemporary Bison painting

I’m currently completing a series of 6 paintings based on Native American legends. This painting is based on the legend: How the Bison Got His Hump. Here’s my retelling: In the beginning days, the bison didn’t have a hump. He was fast and sleek and ran across the prairie having so much fun that he cared for nothing else. He didn’t notice (or didn’t care about) any small creature that got in his way. He trampled the birds and their fragile nests, he trampled the field mice, and the squirrels, and the foxes, and the rabbits. He crushed the flowers and the tender leaves that fed the prairie creatures. All of the creatures begged him to stay away, but Bison didn’t listen to them. He was having too much fun! The birds and other small animals cried so loud that Great Mother heard them. She ran ahead of Bison and said, “You should be ashamed of yourself!” She hit him on the back with a stick, and Bison hunched up his shoulders and lowered his big head, to ward off another blow. But Great Mother didn’t hit him again. She said, “From now on you will always have a hump on your back and you will always carry your head low because of your shame.” So this is why Bison has a hump, and why sometimes you see a happy bird or two on the back of a bison.
